The PROPHET Final Conference, held on 8 July 2026 at the Royal Library of Belgium in Brussels, marked the conclusion of four years of collaborative research dedicated to advancing personalised prevention in Europe. Bringing together the 18 project partners, European institutions, policymakers, researchers, patient organisations and public health experts, the conference provided an opportunity to present the project’s final results and discuss the next steps for implementing personalised prevention across European healthcare systems.

A central focus of the event was the presentation of the 10 critical challenges identified by the project and the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), which together provide a roadmap to support the transition from reactive healthcare to prevention-oriented systems. Speakers highlighted the need for stronger governance, interoperable health data infrastructures, updated Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Health Impact Assessment (HIA) frameworks, and closer collaboration across research, policy and healthcare sectors.

Throughout the conference, participants agreed that scientific innovation must be accompanied by evidence, empowerment and equity. Representatives from the European Commission, national authorities and civil society stressed that personalised prevention can only become a reality if supported by robust implementation strategies, public trust and active citizen engagement. The importance of improving health literacy was also underlined through the presentation of the PROPHET Capacity Building Toolbox, offering practical, plain-language resources for citizens, patients and their organisations.

The conference concluded with a shared commitment to move from research to implementation, ensuring that the knowledge, tools and recommendations developed by PROPHET continue to support policymakers, healthcare professionals and citizens beyond the lifetime of the project. All project outputs, including the SRIA, the Roadmap, the Capacity Building Toolbox and educational materials, are publicly available through the PROPHET website.
